Waterford Libraries Endure – Ensuring continuity in a crisis.
2020 has been a challenging year for libraries in Ireland with lockdowns, branch closures, restrictions on our services and staff being redeployed to work in other sectors to support Waterford Council’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Waterford Library staff responded by upskilling, taking events online, promoting and educating our users in our online services and rethinking how we can support readers and learners in our communities.
For Library Ireland Week 2020 (November 29th – December 6th), we put together this short piece looking at the staff who kept our services running online, who brought events and workshops online to keep our patrons engaged and learning, and who worked to keep branches safe as restrictions changed during 2020.
