To celebrate Family Time at Your Library, Waterford Libraries are delighted to be hosting a wide range of fun and engaging activities and events for families across our branch network throughout December.
The Family Time at Your Library initiative aims to support a family-focused approach to reading with children as part of the national Right to Read programme and to increase awareness of the benefits of reading and promote reading as a fun, recreational activity for children. It runs throughout December across libraries nationwide.

Design a Christmas Jumper Competition – Brown’s Road Library
As part of this year’s Family Time at Your Library celebrations, Browns Road Library wants you to design your own Christmas jumper!
Entering is easy, just pick up an entry form at Brown’s Road Library or simply design a jumper yourself and send to Brown’s Road Library.
There are two age categories for entries:
5 – 8 years & 9 – 12 years

Make a Tree Decoration from Recycled Materials Workshop for Adults

Make a cute Christmas tree decoration from an old holey sock, or some scrap fabric. Everything has a use, even if it’s no longer cut out for it’s intended purpose! Materials supplied, but feel free to bring along an old sock or two if you have them. A fun and stress-free one hour workshop for adults to kick-off the festive season! Workshop takes place on Saturday 3rd December at 2pm in The Hub at Central Library.

Guess the Christmas Present Number Competition
Win a fit watch and headphones with Central Library and Europe Direct Waterford’s competition celebrating Family Time at your Library. During the month of December take some time out from the busy Winterval and Christmas activities to pause and relax at the Central Library. Read the newspapers, chill out with the family in the children’s library or borrow a book or DVD from our Christmas displays. Visit our second floor for free internet access via the library laptops and Europe Direct Waterford’s Information Centre.
Competition entry forms are available next to the Christmas Tree on the ground floor of Central Library. To enter, guess the correct present number from under the tree, add your library card number and contact details to the form and post in the competition box.
The competition is open to all library members both new and old so if you haven’t joined yet fill out a form online and pop into Central Library to activate your card or, call in and fill in the form in branch instead. Likewise, if you haven’t been to Central Library in a while drop in during December to reactivate your card and enter the competition.
