Waterford libraries are now offering TTRS free of charge.
TTRS – Touch Type Read and Spell is an award winning course that teaches touch-typing skills to help children and adults improve their reading and spelling.
The Multi Sensory approach allows users see the words on screen, hear them spoken aloud and then type the corresponding keys. It is often used by those with dyslexia and other learning difficulties.
Learners see, type, and hear text – and can pronounce target words and phrases alongside audio. The combination of diverse sensory input helps material ‘stick’ and the method makes use of modular lessons, repetition, and dictation exercises to reinforce learning. A TTRS Method course is designed for individuals with diverse learning needs, including those who struggle with learning difficulties and physical impairments. TTRS is animation and game-free to minimise distractions and ensure learning material is suitable for older children, adolescents, and adults
Short modules along with the option to customise the keyboard and screen for sensory comfort adds to the ease of use. TTRS is accessible through a website meaning there is no need for special software and the user can access it from anywhere and is not tied to one device.
