Waterford Libraries welcomes all members of the community into our libraries.
Our libraries are warm, safe, welcoming spaces and free to use. Please drop into your local library and ask about joining. Or just come in to have a look around or to sit and relax for a while.
Library membership is free to all.
Borrowing Books
You can borrow up to 12 books, audiobooks, DVDs, music CDs and more from our libraries.
Free Access to Computers and the Internet in the Library
You can access free broadband, WiFi and computers in your local library. Contact your nearest library to find out more about using our computers and Internet service.
Laptops may be available to borrow for use in the library, please contact your nearest library.
Our Online Resources:
We have a great selection of online resources that you can access anywhere, at any time, on any device. All you need is your Waterford Libraries library membership card.
Online Books, Magazines and Newspapers
• Borrowbox – has a great range of digital books and digital audiobooks, with titles available for adults and children. Borrowbox also allows library members to read digital newspapers and magazines for free, in any location, at any time, on any device.
Language Learning Resources:
• Transparent Language Online
• Our full range of online resources is available here, these include training resources such as Universal Class.
Events and Activities and other resources
We have lots of free events and activities in our libraries, keep an eye on events listed here on our website and our social media (Facebook & Instagram) for details of events happening in libraries near you.
A lot of our branches also offer the following:
• Study spaces
• Parent/toddler groups
• Story time sessions
• Language exchanges
• Photocopying and printing (there is a charge for this)
Some of our bigger branches also have spaces that can be booked for meetings and groups. Contact your nearest library to find out more.
Waterford Libraries take part in the following national programmes:
- Healthy Ireland at Your Library which provides evidence based information and events on health.
- Work Matters at the Library, a programme that helps with job seeking, CV preparation and business start ups.
- Right to Read which is aimed at developing literacy skills in adults and children.
The Europe Direct Centre is located in Central Library, Lady Lane and you can participate in many events and information sessions provided by the Centre.
