During the summer, Libraries Ireland held a short story writing competition for young people aged from 6 -18 years old, as part of the national Summer Stars Reading Programme. The winners of the competition were selected from a shortlist by authors Judi Curtin, Sarah Webb and Alan Nolan!
574 entries came in from all over Ireland with 15 finalists in each category.
Waterford Libraries are delighted that Anna Mulhall from Waterford City was a finalist in the 6-9 years category.
Anna entered two stories, both of which made it into the finals and will be invited to take part in an online event for her age category hosted by one of the three national judges – Judi Curtin, Sarah Webb or Alan Nolan!
You can read both of Anna’s stories here:
Tracy McEneaney, Executive Librarian was delighted and wasn’t surprised that Anna was one of the finalists. “Anna is great reader and visits Ardkeen Library regularly and I am delighted to have a Waterford winner, I have seen previous stories by Anna so I know we will be seeing plenty of wonderful stories from Anna in the future”.
