On Wednesday 10th of May, Central Library Waterford hosted the 4th event in a series of ‘Writers at Waterford Libraries’ Literary events. Waterford Libraries were delighted to welcome award winning author, Aingeala Flannery, who read from her critically acclaimed debut novel The Amusements, set in Tramore.
The Amusements was the most borrowed book in Waterford Libraries in April. The audience was charmed by the author, who was expertly interviewed by Senior Executive Librarian Mary Conway. Aingeala spoke of her writing process, her characters in The Amusements and gave a sneak preview of one of the characters in her new novel.
Senior Executive Librarian, Mary Conway said “We were delighted to welcome Aingeala to Central Library and she told us many entertaining stories relating to The Amusements and gave a beautiful reading of her work to the enthralled audience”.
After the event Aingeala signed copies of her book for members of the audience. Aingeala’s writing has been compared by writer Anne Enright to William Trevor whose novel ‘Honeymoon in Tramore’ provided inspiration for The Amusements.
Keep your eyes out for our next exciting ‘Writers at Waterford Libraries’ event. Details will be added to our website, social media and advertised in our library branches.
