Join Change Clothes in Waterford Central Library to learn how to organise your own community clothes swap from start to finish. There are two workshops to choose from both on Friday 17th April in Central Library, Lady Lane, Waterford, X91 V045.
Workshop one – Friday 17th April – 10.00am – 12.00noon
This interactive two-hour workshop provides a hands-on guide to organising a community clothes swap from start to finish. Alongside practical guidance on logistics, space setup, and stock management, participants will explore common challenges, problem-solve real-world scenarios, and begin planning a swap tailored to their own community. The session also covers promotion, accessibility, and what to do with leftover clothing. By the end, participants will leave with a clear, realistic plan to run their own local swap and the confidence to put it into action.
Workshop two – Friday 17th April – 2.30pm – 3.30pm
This practical one-hour workshop introduces community groups and parent associations to the basics of running a successful local clothes swap. Participants will learn how to plan a small swap with minimal resources, including choosing a format, managing donations, setting clear swap rules, and creating a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere. The session draws on Change Clothes’ experience of running swaps in communities across Ireland and is designed to build confidence, showing that swaps don’t need to be big or complicated to have real impact.
