The Index Gallery, Central Library Waterford is delighted to present Line By Line, an exhibition by Irish artist, Nelius Flynn. Featuring a carefully curated collection of pen and ink drawings, this exhibition promises to be one not to be missed.

Exhibition runs from Tuesday 8th April to Tuesday 29th April 2025 during library opening times.

About the Artist:

Nelius Flynn was born and raised in Sligo town in the transformative 1960’s and 70’s. He grew up on the scenic banks of the Garavogue River and the shores of Lough Gill where he drew inspiration from an early age. He also had the benefit of spending time each summer in beautiful Co. Kerry, where his parents were from, which provided even more variety and experiences for his creative imagination. He went to secondary school in Summerhill College, Sligo, before pursuing his art studies in what was then called Sligo Regional College. Nelius completed his teacher training in the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and was appointed as the sole Art Teacher for St Macartan’s College, Monaghan, where he taught happily for 33 years.

Nelius retired from teaching in order to focus on his own art and has since been busy in his studio with commissions, projects and preparing for exhibitions around the country. He works with fine liner pen and watercolor pencil and is noted for his attention to detail and amazing drawing skills. His style is meticulous, yet full of life, as he draws a variety of subjects from landscapes and buildings to vintage objects and illustrations.

Nelius lives with his wife Mary in the bustling village of Emyvale, Co. Monaghan
and when not working in his studio he has many interests and more ideas than time! He loves to spend time with his seven grandchildren, work in his garden, travel, write and follow sports. He is really looking forward to visiting Waterford and exhibiting in the Index Gallery, and in particular meeting local people and sharing his love for art.
