In celebration of International Women’s Day 2019, the Waterford Women’s Centre will launch their annual Women’s History Exhibition together with ‘Roses from the Heart’ Bonnet exhibition in Waterford Central Library on Wednesday 6 March at 11:00am. The exhibition will be launched by Catherine Drea, Contemplative Photographer.

This year the Waterford Women’s Centre presents a rich and extensive exhibition highlighting Women’s History from the City and County with a historical selection of images of “Women at Work” circa 1860s-1900s, portraying urban and rural familiar scenes. The exhibition represents many years of collaboration between Andrew Kelly, Kilmacthomas and Ann Fitzgerald, Waterford Women’s Centre and will feature:

Waterford Cockle Women 

In conjunction with the unveiling of a Civic Trust blue plaque to the Waterford Cockle Women the launch will present pictures and stories to honour these courageous, resilient and heroic women. Including a special celebration of Passage East Cockle Women. The Civic Trust Plaque is sponsored by NCCWN Waterford Women’s Centre through their ‘Pink Plaque Campaign’ and will be unveiled on Friday 8 March at 11:00am in Arundel Lane.

Roses from the Heart Bonnet Exhibition

A short presentation and display on the bonnet making project “Roses from the Heart” from members of the project in the Women’s Centre. Including inspiring songs from the Women’s Centre Choir.

The Women at Work exhibition runs in Waterford Central Library from Monday 4 March to Saturday 30 March. All are welcome.
