Leaflings Story Trail

A Field Guide to the Leaflings, A Waterford Libraries Story Trail

This summer combine the joy of reading with the outdoors by following the Leaflings Story Trail along the Waterford Greenway from either Dungarvan to Durrow or Carriganore to Kilmeaden.

At various storyboard stops along the way, meet Magical Leaflings from all over the world and the trees they live with. Learn how they protect the trees, how trees breathe, how they make food and support many forms of life in this celebration of the majesty and beauty of trees and all who love them.

Travel from an ancient holly tree in Ireland, to a cherry blossom in Japan, and climb to the highest branches of a giant redwood in California, answering clues on your Leaflings Treasure Map along the way. You can collect your Leaflings Map from any Waterford Library branch, by scanning the QR codes on any of the storyboards or at the links below.

Return your completed map to any library branch to pick up your Certificate & Leaflings Library Pack and be in with a chance to win a special prize at the end of the summer.

A whimsical way to learn about trees and that “No one is too small to make a difference” in protecting them.

With kind thanks to author Owen Churcher, illustrator Niamh Sharkey, Templar Books and Towers and Tales Childrens Book Festival.
