Right To Read

The Right to Read Programme was implemented nationwide in 2017 to provide literacy support and reading development in all local authorities.

Waterford Library Service is working in partnership with representatives from the WWETB, Waterford Childcare Committee and WAP to ensure that the Programme complements and enhances existing local literacy programmes.

Currently, the main focus of the Right to Read Programme is support for children and families and
Waterford Library Service has greatly increased the range of supports and resources available to all library users. We offer wide-ranging themed stock collections and highly trained staff who will offer advice on reading development and book selection.

Our Events and Activities Programme includes Seasonal Programmes such as Spring into Storytime, Summer Stars and Children’s Book Festival and Family Reading Activities including Story Times, Parent and Toddler Groups and Baby Book Clubs.
