A recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) study showed that 95% of Waterford people are very worried about Climate Change and yet only 15% feel inspired to become active in taking Climate Action. To reach Waterford’s goals in reducing carbon emissions and to prepare for the future extreme weather impacts that Climate Change may cause, we need Waterford people to not only care about Climate Change but to feel like they can take action.
Our Waterford 2040 tells the story of what a positive Carbon Neutral future might look like. Exhibition features works from artist Kathi Burke, Central Library Knitting Group, Waterford Young Art Critics, Garter Lane Studio Artists; Rachel Roberts, Maddie-Cahill Byrne, Burke, Roibí O Rua, the SETU Design Students, WWETB Drama Group, The Waterford Sustainable Living Initiative and artist MJ Jacob & The Walton Institute collaborative story of fabric and light.
October 25th is also the launch day of the Council’s Climate Action Plan Consultation, and we hope that this exhibition will inspire the Waterford public to take climate action in their own lives while engaging with the Council’s efforts.
Exhibition Runs 11 – 31 October at The Index Gallery, Central Library.
Curated by Luke Currall, Waterford Gallery of Art
The exhibition is organised by Waterford City & County Council’s Libraries, Climate Action Team & Arts Office and is supported by Creative Waterford. The event is part of The Imagine Arts Festival.
