Focusing on soldiers from Waterford, Tipperary, Kilkenny and Wexford, the book charts the 1.928 men of the regiment who received the 1914 ‘Mons Star’ medal for service in France and Belgium at the outbreak of the First World War. Drawing on four years of meticulous research, the authors reveal moving personal stories, local connections, and the fate of those killed, captured, or returned.
