National Public Libraries Open Day promotes the role of public libraries in Irish society and raises awareness of the broad range of services on offer. This year, National Public Libraries Open Day is taking place on Saturday 28th September, with over 300 libraries across Ireland marking it through activities, events and celebrations.
To coincide with the Day, the Take a Closer Look campaign is encouraging people to take a closer look at the wide-ranging services open to them through their libraries, with the vast majority freely available.
Library services are accessible, with many now available online. Over 12 million books – including the latest best sellers, are available to borrow through our public libraries. And an array of services beyond the borrowing of books are part of your library membership benefits, including audiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines, computers and laptops, free WiFi, study spaces, talks, courses, workshops, activities, exhibitions, exhibitions, children-focused activities and events and sensory services.
People are encouraged to visit their local library for National Public Libraries Open Day and join hundreds of thousands of people who already enjoy the benefits of library membership.
Visit our libraries at Ardkeen, Central Library and Dungarvan to see what we have on offer, online and in branches.
