Did your family member get to vote for the first time in 1918?
On 6th February 1918 the Representation of the People, Act 1918 received royal assent and was signed into law. This vote changed the face of Ireland and led to the landslide victory for Sinn Féin in the December 1918 General Elections and the establishment of Dáil Éireann in January 1919.
If you’d like to find out more about this important event, Joanne Rothwell, City and County Archivist, will give a talk on Tuesday 6 February in Waterford Central Library at 11:30am and Dungarvan Library at 3:30pm. The talk will be followed by the opportunity to check records.
All are very welcome, booking is not required. For more information please contact Waterford Central Library on 0761 102975 or Dungarvan Library on 0761 102141.
