The 10th year of The Well Festival of Arts and Wellbeing was once again a huge success for Waterford Libraries in partnership with Garter Lane Arts Centre and Waterford Healing Arts Trust
We hope you enjoy this host of incredible photographs taken at library events throughout the week of 13th-18th of February 2023. The photographs showcase the participants celebrating the joy of creativity together.
There was a big demand for our free library events this year and we were delighted to see how they lifted the spirits of everyone involved. It was a pleasure to be able to host in-person events in our libraries and watch participants thoroughly enjoy the social experience of physical interaction.
Our events for Waterford City Libraries included a Circus Crafts and Juggling Skills Workshop for children aged 7-12 in Central Library with Enda Moran Circus tutor and Educator, Happy Kids Facepainting and Storytime adventure for children aged 4-7 with the very talented library staff of Central library, Baby Massage Taster Class for babies aged 0-1 with Aga Cummins certified infant massage instructor and a Musical Tea Party for adults with renowned musician Liam Merriman, hosted in Carrickphierish Library.
Dungarvan Library hosted two superb events, Wet Felting Workshop with the hugely talented artist Catherine Callanan for adults and an Illustration workshop for children aged 7-10 with Shona Shirly McDonald, award winning book illustrator and author.
The Deise Women’s and Deise Men’s Sheds exhibited in The Index Gallery for the month of February giving the thousands of visitors to Central Library the opportunity to view their journey and handicrafts while chatting to the groups about the numerous benefits of taking part in creative community groups.
The Well Festival is funded by the Arts Council, the HSE and Waterford City & County Council, with generous support from Sanofi.
